Brown Car Seats Swatch

As you know, I like designing car seats because they both provide opportunities not present in other designs and also provide limitations that are challenging.

Vehicle seating is influenced by the type of vehicle and also by convention. The sort of patterns that I make for busses and trains would not be even considered for a car and so the trick is to make the seats interesting and yet also desirable and conventional.

I hope that I have produced a pattern this time which is both interesting and daring but also conventional enough to make it acceptable.

The design is of course mid-century inspired and uses a mid-century based colouring scheme of montella for the background with poppy red, mustard, orange, magnolia and Paris green. Those are the colours listed by my notes and a look at the finished pattern (I made this some time ago) reveals that they are all there.

The pattern was created in Affinity Designer, the vehicle is the Ranger from Daz and the set was created and rendered in Cinema 4D.

Flowery Car Seats

I was so pleased yesterday with the result of my attempts to create once again the covers for car seats that I had to have another go today!

This car is called Prince and it, too, is a Daz model that I have exported from Daz Studio into Cinema 4D. The reason I do this is because I am better at manipulating models in C4D and I can control the lighting better.

The colours are, as ever, mid-century sourced ones and my notes give them as magnolia for the background and Paris green, golden brown and orange for the motif. I think this is a nice combination of colours and I am rather pleased with the resultant image.

1960’s Influenced Car Seat Design

Just lately, over the last year or so, I have noticed that car seat fabrics are getting just a little bit more brighter and more patterned. It is a welcome trend, in my view, because patterned seat covers make a change and look much more decorative and upbeat.

This design was created a few weeks back and has waited until I was able to get the vehicle, it’s the Ranger car from Daz Studio, out of that program and exported into Cinema 4D. The design is very mid-century and uses, of course, colours from the mid-century British Standard colour palette in use at the time.

I have a liking for creating transport patterns since I often feel that there is a need to brighten up our public and private seating and make it just a little more decorative to help us feel at our best.
