Aff528 As A Pattern

We are definitely in the territory of Belle Epoque 2 with this design which utilises a small-scale, a fast repeat and colours that have quite a lot of contrast. The idea for this design was to produce a wallpaper for a feature wall, possibly a small area, in a modern room. However, looking at the final image I am wondering whether this might be more suitable for gift paper.

The motif contains ideas and inspirations that are both mid-century and from a much earlier era while the colouring is definitely mid-century and is taken from my extended British palette which would have been in use at the time. The background colour is yaffle green, a yaffle being the colloquial English name for a woodpecker.

In case you have not already seen this, my ideas for Belle Epoque 2 are to create designs which are colourful, bold and reflect the decorating style of the 1900s in Europe but which are also mid-century influenced and are designed to decorate and enhance the furnishings and wall coverings of modern rooms. Also, for my own reference since I use this blog has notes, I have used 1.6 version of Affinity Designer since the 1.7 version still seems to be buggy.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
