Aff521 As Pattern

Wrapping paper and gift paper designs have always interested me because they can be mid-century and use some of the fascinating designs produced in the 1950s and 1960s or they can be ultramodern or, finally, they can be a combination of both.

This design is a mid-century inspired pattern that uses mid-century colouring and which I created with Affinity Designer for experimentation with Filter Forge, a program that takes images and applies effects to them. This filter is called Layered Tiling and was produced by Vladimir Golovin. The effect is to add onto the image a series of layered tiles and, with the right image underneath, the effect can be staggering.

As soon as I created this image I realised that it had the potential to be an excellent wrapping paper or gift bag image.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
