Aff486 Pattern

This is another Belle Epoque 2 style pattern this was intended for soft furnishings and in particular, it was designed for curtains. The pattern is a small one with a fast repeat and this enables it not to catch the eye but to look decorative.

The motif is a simple one and could well have been found in a mid-century catalogue of furnishing fabric and, of course, the colouring uses colours which would have been found during that period.

Curtain material is difficult to produce because it is all too easy to make a design which is too obtrusive and which catches the eye when all the homeowner wants is to create a ‘wall of colour’ in order to complement the colours and styles already in use in the room.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
