Aff428 Belle Epoque 2

This design is based around mid-century motifs and colouring, although I have made a special effort to give it what I hope is a turn-of-the-century feel and look.

Looking recently through some new interior design catalogues I felt that the world was becoming increasingly less decorated and that, as time progresses, there is less and less pattern. One of the reasons why I like mid-century design is because of the colours and the use of patterns for decoration during that period. It always seems to me that modern rooms (and also my own house) look too plain and architectural rather than decorated, bright and appealing.

This design starts new era for me which I am calling Belle Epoque 2 and which I hope will influence both my work and the work of others to promote the use of patterns for decoration both in fashion and around the home.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
