Spaceship Pattern

Mid-century and earlier inspired surface patternIt wouldn’t be fair to say that this was a failed spaceship, it is merely a design which did not make it through to the final stage but which has been repurposed to produce a pattern.

I have been looking at the influence of art deco and art nouveau designs and ideas from the early 1900s and the way that they influenced mid-century art. There is, of course, nothing new under the sun and if you look you can see the influences of the artists and designers of that period.

This pattern carries that tradition forward, I hope, to produce a rich and surprisingly intricate looking design which uses partly mid-century colours as well as colours from an older palette.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
