Woodland Scene

aff338 43I don’t really like woodland scenes with flowers and plants, little animals and butterflies and so I very rarely do them. I should say, perhaps, that I rarely do them to show although I do patterns like this for myself. However several people commented that this pattern was so good that I had to post it here and so I have.

There is not a lot to say except that it has rather stylised flowers, leaves and, of course, the butterflies. I was more interested in using this pattern to experiment with element sizes and that was the reason that it was created.

The motifs are mid-century flowers while the plants are maybe from an earlier period. The butterflies, I suppose, are mid-century. The colouring is definitely mid-century and, after I had finished and prepared this image, I realised that it was very similar to the washable wallpapers that were created in the 1950s and 60s primarily for use in kitchens and bathrooms and the like.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
