Wallpaper Flowers

Wallpaper mid-century inspired designI really do not like floral patterns although, I have to admit, I am able to tolerate stylised flowers and similar botanical designs and interestingly, as I get older, I seem to find myself creating more of them.

This design is a simple floral using the kind of stylised flowers that I like and that was created for a specific purpose, to paper the walls of a hallway. In fact this is the stairs that I have already used to showcase a carpet pattern.

Although this design appears quite random, or at least I hope it does, there is a way to it and you will see this more clearly after I have produced the 3D image.

The design itself is a simple one using flower shapes and fruits that owe their inspiration to those used mid-century and to an extent before. The colours, however, are from my new mid-century and earlier palette and thus give the design, I hope, a fresher and more appealing look. My previous work used just colours from the British Standard group of colours in use in Britain in the 1950s and 60s decade.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
