Ranger Seating

Transport seatingaff123If you go far enough you often find that what began at the beginning comes round to meet you once again. One of the things that I began doing many years ago was designing patterns for commercial vehicle seating and using this as a texture in 3D models.

This model, it is the Ranger model from Daz imported into Cinema 4D, is not really a commercial vehicle but it does, I think, take this pattern quite well. The design was made specifically for vehicle seating and, once again, it has a definite purpose.

For seating which is used on a short journey it is useful to create bold, colourful designs which will inspire and enliven the user (and otherwise keep them awake). You can see patterns like this used on buses and short-haul trains. Where the transport is likely to be used over a longer period, for example long train journeys or automobiles, it is probably better to design something that is a little more restful although perhaps equally stimulating.

This design is intentionally a little quirky and is intended to beautify the interior of the vehicle and at the same time provide a fabric which will help to make a long journey restful.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
