Orange And Lime Wallpaper

Mid-century inspired wallpaper patternIt’s very easy to look at patterns today that represent the 1950s, 60s and 70s and yet these are just a small subset of the designs that were produced. In fact, in exactly the same way that it happens today, patterns followed a variety of routes, some were very new, inspired by emerging art trends, while some were much more traditional and took for their inspiration to designs of previous decades.

This pattern uses much older elements, although I have tried to make the shapes look both modern in an up-to-date sense and modern meaning that they would not look out of place in the mid-century decades in the United Kingdom.

The pattern is a mixture of elements which I hope is unified by the colour scheme which is partly mid-century and partly up-to-date. I am trying to create what I hope will be a wallcovering suitable for a modern room. There is little contrast between the colours and they all flow together which means that this wallpaper could do all the walls rather than just a feature wall.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors and my interior 3D work on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
