Blue Wallpaper

aff184_1000This is a very nice, quite sophisticated blue pattern wallpaper which is used here on one wall of a living room which owes much to the mid-century look but which is quite modern.

Conventionally, the walls would be white and the floor comprised of wood or imitation wood floor boarding but this room is different. For this room I have looked back into past decoration techniques and patterns and chosen what I think is the best of the old to put with this design. Along with the wall, the room has a carpet to make it look cosy and a distinctive blue wall to echo the colour in the pattern.

Blue can be a cold colour, but this pattern is designed to minimise that effect while allowing the true colour to show through. According to my notes, the colours used are just magnolia and anchusa – both from my normal mid-century palette.

If you wish, you can also see larger versions of this and, of course, my other designs and patterns for interiors on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
