Mid-century Inspired Pattern

Green Wallpaper Swatch

Against more modern values, mid-century colours were, for the most part, bright and quite saturated which I believe reflects the optimism and hope that the new decade brought.

Unfortunately, interior decoration then seemed to lose its way as the decades unfolded but now, as we move into the current century, more sensible interior decoration is beginning to appear. And it is to bolster this trend that the current pattern was created.

The motif is mid-century friendly, and the colouring is taken from the mid-century palette in use at the time. According to my notes, the background colour is bottle green with canary yellow, middle brown, silver and finally Paris green used for the motif.

This wallpaper design was used in my modern apartment set to demonstrate how good and decorative a strong, masculine wall covering looks in this setting.

If you would like to see larger versions of these designs and my other work then you can do so on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
