Bright Bus Seating Swatch

With seating designed for transport it is often useful to look at the various options available to change the scale since this can have a big impact on the overall look of the pattern.

This design is based on mid-century ideas although the colouring makes it look quite modern. I tried several scaling variations and finally decided on quite a large format. These are bus seats designed for use on buses that travel predominantly in urban areas. Here the journeys are short and the travellers often either commuters or shoppers both of whom benefit from an adventurous and stimulating travel experience.

I hoped that at this scale the design would prove inviting and of interest to both adults and child travellers. Inviting people to use public transport in towns is important and I believe that bright and colourful seating can help to encourage public transport use.

If you would like to see larger versions of these designs and my other work then you can do so on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
