Flower Pattern Bus Seating Swatch

This is a pattern designed especially for transportation seating, being shown here as a bus seat pattern but one designed to fulfil the requirement for a particular type of pattern.

Bus seats and short-haul train seats by their very nature are designed for short term use with a steady ebb and flow of passengers. As such, the pattern can be quite bold to invite passengers to sit and enjoy the short journey and be stimulated and enlivened by the design.

But not all seating should be like this; there are occasions when the journey should be a little more restrained or where the operator does not want such bold seating. To meet such a need this pattern is intended to look striking but restrained, boldly coloured yet not eye-catching and be designed to be pleasing yet restful.

As with most of my designs, the basis is mid-century and colours from the mid-century palette are used. My notes give them as lovely nightshade as the background with poppy red, vanilla, Paris green and Pacific blue for the motif.

If you would like to see larger versions of these designs and my other work then you can do so on my Flickr page, a link to which is here.
