Nautical Jacket Pattern Swatch

Nautical patterns are, in general, fun patterns to create although there is often nothing amusing about being at sea in the stormy waters around the United Kingdom.

But this pattern is the kind of pattern that might have appeared in the 1960s or earlier as a fabric – as shown here – or as a washable wall covering or even as a carpet. The pattern construction is simple, using just a few motifs and less than a handful of mid-century colours; brass, maroon, Bredon green and Pacific blue.

I have tried to give the jacket a modern, slightly reflective look and it is paired with similar simple, black, unpatterned pants.

If you would like to see larger versions of these designs and my other work then you can do so on my Flickr page, a link to which is here
