Leaf And Berry Wallpaper Swatch

Mid-century, at least in the United Kingdom, was not all about riot and colour and fantastic new designs, inventions and ideas – in fact, much of it was quite mundane.

But mundane does not mean uninspired or unexciting. This design is intended to show that more traditional and perhaps you would say ‘standard’ motifs and arrangements could still be interesting, varied and good-looking. This is not intended to be a modern, up-to-the-minute 1960s room; it can be perhaps thought of as the sort of room that the majority of people would have enjoyed. It is comfortable, tasteful and not lacking in charm. However, neither is it brash, colourful and intent on keeping you awake.

The wallpaper design keeps the room light and interesting while the other elements complement rather than attempt to dominate. Perhaps this room looks more modern that mid-century but this perhaps shows that tastes do not really change, they only rotate with the years.

If you would like to see larger versions of these designs and my other work then you can do so on my Flickr page, a link to which is here
