Old Modern Pattern

Mid-century inspired pattern

Old Modern Pattern

This is a mid-century inspired pattern which was created to be used as a normal fabric, perhaps for curtains or maybe as a modern fashion textile.

It has its roots very much in the 1960s for the colours, to an extent the motif and the overall look but the presentation is firmly modern and up to date. This is not the sort of design that might have appeared in the 1960s and for that reason, I have not shown it as a curtain fabric in a set. however, I did try it as a seating fabric for transport where it was successful although here, too, it did look surprisingly modern in appearance.

I like the design a lot and I have plans to make it more mid-century and to blend into a mid-century scene in the future so it is definitely not one I have given up on! However, to show that I also make modern designs, I have decided to show it here but to show just the swatch.

If you would like to see larger versions of these designs and my other work then you can do so on my Flickr page, a link to which is here
