Cushions again, I am afraid, they seem to be a major preoccupation with me lately, perhaps that is because a lot of my patterns now seem to lend themselves so well to the fabric that would make cushions.

However, this particular design is quite unlike the sort of patterns that I usually produce. It was created as a pattern that would be modern and a little unusual but most of all, it would be eye-catching. It is designed to show off the furniture on which it resides and to catch the visitor’s eye when they enter a room. However, it is necessary to be a little careful since the homeowners have to live with the pattern day in and day out and so it is, I hope, a design which would be quite tolerable in the long term.

The colours are quite straightforward and have their origins in mid-century, but they have been designed from a distance to show a diagonal stripe. In particular, the yellow colour forms the major part of the pattern and takes the eye from top left to bottom right while the other colours form areas.

You can, should you wish, also see larger versions of this and my other work on my Flickr page which is here.
