House Plan

scene01-moving-dayThis is something I have not done before but, having given it some thought, I decided that I would do this properly and share the results with you.

When I have modelled any of my sets before, I have scribbled the shape of the room and perhaps some extra details on a piece of paper before I began work. Thinking about this, however, and wanting to make a new start and do things a little better, I decided that it would perhaps be useful to at least put down on paper more details of the type of property, the position of the room and its relationship to the other rooms in the house.

The advantage of this is that I can more accurately set up lighting and the dimensions of the rooms, something which I know I have not done so well in the past, and also have a better idea of the type of furniture to include as well as the decorations. I therefore spent a little time creating a downstairs plan of the house (as it now is rather than an apartment) for this project. The plan is a simple one just showing the rooms and their position but in doing this it gave me the opportunity to give some thought to the sizes of the rooms and the type of house that this was.

The other rooms, of course, can have any names and any uses, I just typed in appropriate titles.

Doing this was, I have to say, something of an eye-opener since I realised that the plan in my head was nothing like this final product and hopefully this will help me to create better rooms and also to use more imaginative and accurate camera angles.

You can also see larger versions of this and my other work on my Flickr page which is here.
