I like making unusual designs and, in fact, unusual designs – or maybe it’s better to say less usual ones – were a mainstay of midcentury patterns in the UK.

So here I have created some very normal flowers made to resemble the type of flowers that were being produced in the 1960s but I have left out the fill. Pairing these in various mid-century hues with an unusual background has produced a very stylish and interesting fabric pattern which is shown here as a swatch and also as curtains in the dining room.
