Compromise Walls

The advice has always been to pick a colour out of the wallpaper and use that on the plain walls and paintwork. Good advice normally but sometimes it just doesn’t work.

Here we have a wallpaper that has a black background with magnolia motifs but choose either of those colours and you end up with a very boring and bland room or else a very sombre one. The solution was simple, I choose half way (sort of) and used a 50% grey. This makes the room look interesting without looking overpowering or, at the other end of the scale, insipid.

As ever, you can also see larger versions of this and my other work on my Flickr page which is here.
