Fun Mix Cushions And Curtains

Sometimes, as you work, unexpected or even uninvited shapes and motifs begin to emerge from what you are doing. Occasionally, well, it’s not what you want but sometimes it makes you laugh.

This was a straightforward, mid-century inspired, fabric pattern intended for cushions, curtains and as a fashion fabric but it was only after I had finished it that I saw the monster hidden within it! I was probably concentrating too much on the act of making it, but once I had it in use on one of my sets I instantly saw it and laughed.

Often I throw things away that turn out not to be as I expect, I suppose we all do, but this time I decided to leave it and over the few days that I have been using the pattern it has grown on me to the extent that I am showing it here.

As well as the usual curtains and cushions, it is also intended as a fashion pattern and I am currently trying (once again as regular readers of this blog will know) to create a realistic and acceptable fashion mock-up. Hopefully there will be more to come a little later today so wish me luck.

As ever, you can also see larger versions of this and my other work on my Flickr page which is here.
