Period Kitchen Floorcovering

Linoleum had always been popular as a relatively low cost and colourful floorcovering and its popularity increased mid-century with the introduction of vinyl flooring.

Perhaps this would have been vinyl for the pattern is the sort of design that would have been in the shops in the 1950s or 1960s in the UK and probably somewhere exists to this day. The design is a perennial one with a simple central motif that is based on rustic straw bales. Colours mid-century tended to be conservative at the beginning of the 1950s becoming more adventurous as the decades progressed.

You can also see larger versions of this and our other work on our Flickr page which is here.
