Wallpaper And Curtain Design

I don’t usually make a design do two jobs, I create wallcoverings separately from fabric patterns since there are differences between them but sometimes you just have to go with the way the design is shaping.

This was intended to be a version of an Arts and Crafts type pattern, one that perhaps would have seen the light of design in mid-century UK in maybe the 1960s. Once finished however, I could not resist changing the background to see how it looked and I realised that it would make a nice curtain for the 1960s dining room. There was, I believe, a tendency to use dark colours with plenty of contrast at that time and so I decided to make some adjustments and create a fabric pattern that I would be able to use for curtains.

The designs were made using Xara Designer while both the rooms were created in Cinema 4D and this program was used to make the images that you see above.

You can also see larger versions of this and our other work on our Flickr page which is here.
