A Green ‘Chocolate’ Pattern

Creating patterns is all about – or at least it used to be all about – using familiar objects around you for inspiration.

This mid-century design was influenced by a selection of chocolates that I was eating – yes I know I shouldn’t. After trying various colours I decided to again attempt to make a green, mid-century room from my usual mid-century Cinema 4D living room set. You can see the results above (and larger images on our Flickr page) and hopefully this will work better than the previous one that I posted.

The overall effect that I wanted to create was one of coolness but not to make the room look aloof, unfriendly and uninviting. This room, I think, looks cool but does so in a nice way rather than in a cold way and would invite the viewer to walk in if that were possible.

As hinted above the image was created in Cinema 4D using a wall texture that was made with Xara Designer.

You can also see larger versions of this and our other work on our Flickr page which is here.
