Mid-Century Bedroom Wallpaper

I wanted to see if I could use the Java Processing toolkit to make a design that I could use as a mid-century wallpaper.

In fact the task proved a lot easier than I had anticipated and I was able to produce the pattern shown above. This uses various mid-century colours and ideas and I’m sure that it would have proved popular in the 1960s. Wallpaper like this was very much in fashion during the mid-century period in the UK and, as I have said before, this is a style of pattern that has more or less disappeared these days and is most certainly in need of a revival.

The set is my wallpaper set created in Cinema 4D although I have spent a little time changing the curtains and adjusting the lighting to produce what I hope is a slightly more realistic image.

I’m very encouraged by my efforts so far and I will certainly be producing more coded patterns in the near future.

You can also see larger versions of this and our other work on our Flickr page which is here.
