No, this is not as you may think late 1960s, it is inspired by the patterns and designs created in the early 1950s.

The revolution in design (and life) that happened in the 1960s was built on groundwork created in the years after the end of the Second World War. This was a time of letting go of the constraints and greyness of wartime and a time of exploration to see how far it was possible to push the boundaries. In fact this lead directly to the ‘youthquakes’ of the 1960s and beyond (the effects of which are still being felt today).

New ideas abounded and new and exciting patterns were produced but the public was slow to take up the new designs and many of them got swept aside as every more new designs appeared. These patterns of the 1950s were one of the casualties and it was a type of pattern that never really appeared again. Hence my desire to popularise it if I can since it is another type of pattern that is perhaps overdue for revival.

The design was created in Adobe Illustrator, the set used was my mid-century living room and the image was rendered in Cinema 4D and touched up in Photoshop.
