1950s inspired textile for furnishing

Following on from the wallpaper design just posted, this pattern owes much to the 1950s that I described previously.

Used here as a very overt furnishing pattern, this is very much the way that designers, I think, intended patterns to look in the 1950s. Having lived through the 1950s I can tell you that 95% of furnishings that I saw bore no relation to these patterns, people preferring to stick with rehashed pre-war designs. This is of course often the case with new and perhaps daring ideas in surface design.

Unfortunately the 1960s saw such an upheaval in art generally that these patterns got rather lost and sidelined and never really reappeared which I think is a shame. Those who know me will know that this is something that I would like to do my small part in correcting.

As ever the design was created in Adobe Illustrator and the final product assembled and rendered in Cinema 4D.
