1950s inspired wallpaper design

A particular favourite of mine are the designs from the 1950s which had their origin in the contemporary fine art of the period.

The art movement in general was experiencing, as was most of design, tremendous upheavals and this was reflected in what I consider to be some of the best surface patterns that have ever been produced.

Whilst in no way wishing to put my humble offerings at the same level, I do try to be inspired by the patterns, forms and shapes of that period and this, and the next few posts, will, as far as I am able, do justice to this trend.

This is a simple pattern of shapes used as wallpaper. On paper (pun intended) the designs look excellent but having rendered them in my 3D program I thought them a little cold looking. As I have long maintained, this is one of the prime advantages in being able to take patterns that have been produced and use them to illustrate what they would look like in a room. However I have chosen what is, I think, the best one to bring to you.

The design was made in Adobe Illustrator and the set used is my mid-century living room used in Cinema 4D.
