Mid-century wallpaper design

This is a mid-century inspired wallpaper for a feature wall; it is designed to create an effect which is light, airy and, above all, eye-catching.

Wallpapers like this began to appear in the middle of the 1960s and as the years moved towards the close of the decade the designs, colours and in particular the impact became stronger and stronger until we saw the riotous patterns and colours of the 1970s (which I will come to shortly). This is not particularly ‘riotous’ but for the time it would have been an impact style wallpaper and it would have looked nice on a feature wall. What is particularly good is that the background is white, soon backgrounds would become all sorts of colours and this had the general effect of darkening the rooms which is one reason why, in the UK at least, 1970s architecture went for larger windows to admit more light.

This design is based on various mid-century styles which are not necessarily wallpaper inspired and was created in Adobe Illustrator while the scene was rendered in Cinema 4D using a new mid-century room that I have constructed.
