I’ve moved back a little in time as the inspiration for this design is firmly from the 1940s/50s and this is a furnishing fabric.

Simple leaf pattern designs with a large motif were very popular as furnishing fabrics after the Second World War and into the 1950s. As that decade wore on the designs began to use brighter colours and smaller and simpler motifs. However, this pattern remained a mainstay for furniture.

As those who follow my blog will know, I really do not do florals and so this is a definite one-off and tomorrow (I looked ahead) we are back to my normal small patterns and fast repeats! However, in the history of furnishing design, this was an important type of pattern.
